A quick truth: design isn’t the same as conversion

A lot of websites look good… but don’t bring results.

Conversion is not “more animations” or “a cooler font.” Conversion is:

  • clearer messaging
  • less friction
  • more trust
  • a smoother path to action

Here are 7 fixes you can apply without rebranding.

1) Your headline is too vague (fix it in 10 minutes)

If your hero section says:

“We build solutions for modern businesses”

That’s not helping anyone decide.

Replace it with:

  • what you do
  • who it’s for
  • what result they get

Example formula:
We help [who] achieve [result] with [service].

Examples:

  • “We build fast websites for small businesses that want more calls and bookings.”
  • “We design and develop web apps that streamline operations and reduce manual work.”
  • “We set up business intelligence dashboards so teams can track performance and make better decisions.”

2) You’re missing one obvious primary call-to-action

If your homepage has 4 different buttons (Contact, Learn More, Book, View, Download), visitors freeze.

Pick one main action and repeat it:

  • “Book a Call”
  • “Request a Quote”
  • “Chat on WhatsApp”
  • “Get a Free Audit”

Best practice: one primary CTA (same wording) across the page.

3) You’re not showing trust early enough

People decide whether to trust you within seconds. Add trust signals above the fold or close to your hero section:

  • client logos (even 3 is fine)
  • 1–2 short testimonials
  • a clear “based in Lagos / serving globally” line (if relevant)
  • “Projects delivered” or “Years of experience”
  • a simple process overview (“Discovery → Design → Build → Launch”)

No fluff. Just proof.

4) Your services are described like vibes, not outcomes

If your services read like:

  • “Innovative solutions”
  • “Creative excellence”
  • “Cutting-edge strategies”

Visitors still don’t know what you actually deliver.

Instead, write service cards like:

  • Website Development: landing pages, company websites, portfolio sites, conversion-focused builds
  • Software Development: internal tools, dashboards, portals, booking systems
  • Business Intelligence: reporting systems, dashboards, workflow automations, performance tracking
  • AI Consultancy (optional): AI use-case discovery, implementation planning, team training

Make it concrete. People buy clarity.

5) Your website doesn’t answer pricing questions properly

You don’t have to list exact prices, but you must reduce uncertainty.

Add any of these:

  • “Packages starting from…” (range)
  • “Typical project budgets” (range)
  • “What affects cost” (scope, timeline, pages, integrations)
  • “What you get” (deliverables)

When pricing is unclear, people assume it’s either too expensive or risky.

6) Your contact flow is frustrating (especially on mobile)

Common conversion killers:

  • long forms
  • no WhatsApp option (if your audience uses it)
  • hidden contact details
  • slow load time on mobile

Fix checklist:

  • keep forms to 3–5 fields max
  • add “Chat on WhatsApp” as an easy option
  • make buttons large and thumb-friendly
  • ensure pages load fast (compressed images, clean code)
  • put contact options in the header/footer consistently

7) You’re not guiding people with a simple “how it works”

Most visitors don’t want a long story—they want to know what happens next.

Add a short section:
How it works

Quick discovery call

We propose scope + timeline

Design/prototype approval

Build + QA

Launch + support

This reduces fear and increases action.

Bonus: Two fast wins that usually move the needle

  • Add a “Results” section: even if you’re early, show measurable outcomes like faster load time, improved structure, cleaner booking flow, better mobile usability.
  • Add a FAQ: “How long does it take?” “Do you handle hosting?” “Will I own the files?” “What support do you offer?”
